How are you settling in? Jim Agnew, commercial vehicle strategic sales manager, AkzoNobel UK

How does your new role differ from your last one?

I’m now dealing with the industry’s key decision-makers including national fleet contracts, dealerships, insurance companies and the CV Acoat network.

How is the commercial vehicle market changing?

I’ve seen the market peak and trough from a number of different perspectives over the past 25 years.

The credit crunch is impacting on all business.

The CV market is not as cash rich as it has been of late, so the pressure is on for companies to help customers optimise their expenditure.

What has been your greatest challenge in the role so far?

The greatest challenges often yield the best results and maintaining our customer base and continuing to grow accounts is an achievement in itself.

I’m also glad we’ve had the opportunity to work with our customers in an advisory capacity, helping them to manage fleet refurbishment solutions and co-ordinate
rebranding activities.

How do you relax at weekends?

I play golf and enjoy football, but only get around to watching it these days.
