Motoring pictures

Drivers on the M42 will become the first on the motorway network to see digital pictograms on overhead electronic signs.

The pictograms, which will be displayed as internationally recognised symbols, will be used on 36 existing signs over the motorway’s 11-mile Active Traffic Management stretch to inform them of any hazards ahead, such as accidents, congestion, snow/ice, high winds or an increased skid risk.
