Ireland fails to implement EU insurance law

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has found Ireland guilty of breaking European Union compulsory insurance laws.

Irish regulations currently fail to provide insurance cover for crash victims who were passengers in vehicle even though they knew that its driver was uninsured.

The ECJ said Ireland must ensure all passengers in a vehicle whose uninsured driver caused a crash are insured.
