Vauxhall’s Vectra may be entering the twilight of its career, but it is still selling well among fleet buyers.

The upper-medium model, due to be replaced by the Insignia later this year, was the fifth best-selling car in the fleet market during February, beating the newer Ford Mondeo which was in eighth spot.

Vauxhall sold 2,065 Vectras in fleet last month, putting the model on 4,257 for the year to date (January and February) – a 29% increase on the same period last year.

The Vectra was joined in the top 10 best-sellers for February by the Astra in first place (4,036 sales), the Corsa in fourth with 2,135 registrations and the Zafira in sixth (1,670).

Ford’s Focus took second place with 3,554 sales (down heavily due to the run-out of the old shape and the introduction of the facelifted model) and the Volkswagen Golf was third on 2,211.

For the year to date, the Focus leads the way (10,307), followed by the Astra (9,397), Golf (5,788) and Corsa (5,312).
