Areva, one of the world’s
leading energy transmission and
distribution companies, has taken
another step towards meeting its
environmental goals by
implementing a new telematics
fleet management system from
Eagle-i Telematics.

The system will allow Areva’s
transmission and distribution
(T&D) division to reduce the
environmental impact of its
110-strong UK van fleet while also
improving risk management and
helping the company comply with
recent changes in van tax
legislation.

The move came after an
extensive selection process and
subsequent trial programme.

Key achievements included a
reduction of Areva’s total fleet
mileage through better job
allocation and route planning and
improved fuel consumption
through better driver behaviour
and speed awareness.

The resulting reductions in CO2
emissions were particularly
attractive to Areva, for whom
sustainable development and
minimising environmental impact
are key issues.

Russell Whalley, UK
transport manager for Areva
T&D, said: “Eagle-i Telematics
offered by far the most practical
and cost-effective solution to the
problem of managing the latest
benefit-in-kind van tax
legislation.”
