BCA is expanding its remarketing activities in eastern Europe.

There will be a new auction site for its existing Hungarian operation and two new centres, one each for Romania and Poland.

The additional centres in Romania and Poland will boost BCA’s presence to 26 auction halls throughout Europe.

“We’ve just signed off the plans for three new European centres,” confirmed Jon Olsen, chief executive, BCA.

“We’re moving our existing Hungarian Gyor centre to Budapest. Romania and Poland will be new operations. The potential in these countries is enormous.”

Olsen said indigenous experts would staff the centres.

“You need a homegrown management team that really understands the local market. That’s been a strategy of ours throughout Europe.”

Olsen said BCA was also rolling out a common IT system throughout Europe.

“This will be able to tell us which cars sell best and where,” he said.
