Fleet managers at Merseyside Police are working in partnership with Futronics and Carnation Designs to design a new mobile data terminal for police vehicles, which manages all of the communication systems, on-board equipment and emergency response technologies through a single computer system.

The Merseyside Police fleet consists of around 400 vehicles, which are all fitted with considerable amounts of on-board specialised equipment.

The new mobile data terminal allows drivers to access and interact with information from diverse sources, including automatic vehicle location systems, digital video recordings, automatic number plate recognition systems, the force’s command room and the DVLA, using just one screen.
