The Liberal Democrats have launched their transport policy document, which includes a commitment to introduce road pricing.

It said the additional investment needed will be paid for by introducing emissions-linked charges on road freight and internal flights.

If it gets into power, the party promises to cut fuel duty and abolish VED over the next 10 years and introduce a cost-neutral road user pricing scheme on motorways and trunk roads.

Liberal Democrat Leader, Nick Clegg said: "These proposals offer a radical alternative vision for transport in the 21st Century, compared with the tired short-sightedness of both Labour and the Tories.”
