Car insurers benefit from new software

Computer software has been developed by an EU-funded research project that will help car insurers deal with claims more efficiently.

The OntoGrid project has created programmes that help computers understand the context of messages, not just individual words.

“The model successfully demonstrated a clear increase in quality and efficiency of the claim submission processes between the consumer, the damage repair company and the insurance company,” said the European Commission.

OntoGrid also developed a model to help insurers detect fraud, by improving computer communications between them, helping them detect fraudulent multiple claims for one accident.
