A showcase event for the Government-backed Driving for Better Business programme was held recently at Cranfield University.

The programme is aimed at developing a network of employers to promote good practice and reduce the frequency and severity of at-work road crashes.

Dr Lisa Dorn, who heads up Cranfield’s Driving Research Group, presented the strategies the group have employed to address fleet risk.

These include the work of DriverMetrics, a Cranfield-owned company that provides the Fleet Driver Risk Index, a psycho-metric risk assessment used by companies to identify high-risk drivers and implement targeted driver training.

Caroline Scurr, Driving for Better Business programme manager, said: “Eliminating driving at work accidents is vital to any company and clearly the work at Cranfield will make an important contribution.”
