Ford has joined the growing list of manufacturers offering an efficient twin-clutch automatic gearbox.
Built in a similar vein to the likes of Volkswagen’s DSG gearbox, Ford’s PowerShift technology promises the comfort and convenience of a traditional automatic with the fuel economy of a manual transmission.
The six-speed gearbox is available mated to the 2.0 TDCi engine in the Focus and the C-MAX.
Although the engine is available in two states of tune – with either 108bhp or 134bhp – the fuel economy in the PowerShift-equipped Focus remains the same in both at 48.6mpg and average CO2 emissions of 154g/km.
The C-MAX delivers 47.9mpg and has CO2 emissions of
159g/km.
The Focus, with PowerShift, starts at £18,195 for the three-door 2.0 TDCi 110 Zetec.
The C-MAX costs from £19,895 for the same engine and trim level.
