In May Honda confirmed it would launch a range of new hybrids, including a more affordable family car than the Civic Hybrid, a hybrid version of the CR-Z concept, a Jazz and a successor to the Civic Hybrid.

And this could well be it.

The car snapped here on test in the US shares styling cues with the FCX Clarity fuel-cell car but seems bigger than the cheap New Global Hybrid that Honda has been hinting at.

The mystery could be unravelled in October when a concept for the New Global Hybrid is unveiled, and a production version will be on sale in March next year.
