Renault has announced pricing and further specification details of its new Megane range.

The lower-medium sector challenger makes its world debut at this month’s Paris Motor Show before going on sale in the UK at the end of November.

The order book has already opened.

Prices will range from £13,995 to £18,795 and there will be 11 versions across three simplified trim levels – Expression, Dynamique and Privilege.

Six engines will be available at launch – three petrols ranging from 100bhp to 180bhp, and three diesels with between 86bhp and 130bhp.

More engines will follow later next year.

Standard equipment on all models is high, with air conditioning, ESP with anti-skid and understeer control, six airbags, electric door mirrors and electric windows all round.

The five-door hatchback version will be first to go on sale, with a sportier three-door range to follow.

A coupé version will arrive in January 2009.
