Enterprise Rent-a-Car has been named the Best Short-Term  Rental Company at the 2010 Fleet News awards

Enterprise Rent-A-Car offers a comprehensive range of services and policies that have customer service at their core.

For example, it buys all of its almost 40,000 rental vehicles rather than acquiring them on buy-back deals.

This allows it to quickly respond to changing rental demands. It also gives its corporate clients access to its free online rental management system.

Enterprise has a network of 330 outlets – the largest in the country – which means three-quarters of the UK population is within five miles of an outlet.

But Enterprise goes further. Initiatives it introduced in 2009 have brought major benefits.
Among them was its Driving the Right Behaviour pack, which has already helped more than 100 companies assess and manage their grey fleet use. The pack includes best practice advice, a transport policy template and a grey fleet calculator; all of which allow companies to measure and better manage grey fleet mileage.

Other developments include a mileage reimbursement benchmarking initiative, which has shown an average of a 30% reduction in costs at participating companies.
Enterprise has also worked with clients such as BT to develop an incentive scheme to encourage drivers to rent the most appropriate vehicle for the job.

Judges’ comments
Enterprise impresses with its range and breadth of initiatives, such as free pick-up for drivers and its focus on grey fleet. It shows its understanding of the fleet market by looking at companies’ travel policies – it’s not just about getting from A to B. The judges were also impressed with the strength of its fleet commendations.

Hertz UK was highly commended by the judges
