Ryder Europe has announced that it is investing £4m in 100 new heavy goods vehicles to its rental fleet. This is in addition to an investment made earlier in the year of £18 million, when Ryder Europe refreshed its rental fleet with the introduction of 613 new vehicles.

The 100 new vehicles will include DAF 7.5 tonne box tail lifts, 18 tonne box and curtain side tail lifts with sleeper cabs, and 44 tonne tractors units with space cabs.  All vehicles will be specified to meet Euro 5 emissions standards to reduce environmental impact.

“The refresh program we announced in February 2010 has been very successful and the majority of those vehicles have already been placed into longer term rental contracts,” commented David Hunt, vice president and managing director, fleet management solutions, Ryder Europe. “We are seeing a significant uptake in demand for premium quality Euro 5 HGV vehicles, and this additional investment will ensure that Ryder is in a position to fulfill this increased demand.  Customers are delighted with the new Euro 5 equipment and these additional vehicles will ensure Ryder’s rental fleet is one of the most modern and efficient in the marketplace.”
