Carly Weston, the first female vehicle glass repair specialist at National Mobile Windscreens, has set another industry record by being the first to achieve the GQA Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Windscreen Repair.

Weston, 23, who is based at the Birmingham Branch, Phoenix Park, Avenue Road, Aston, joined the company 12 months ago after being made redundant at a West Midlands garage.

Since then she has undergone training by experienced engineers and has acquired the skills and knowledge needed to meet the stringent NVQ standards.

Pete Allan, NVQ Assessor for National Mobile Windscreens, said: “Carly was very keen to complete the qualification and I was impressed with her confidence in completing repairs and her friendly approach with customers was great to see”

Denis Reed, National Mobile Windscreens Compliance Manager and Internal Verifier said: “We have been working with GQA qualifications for our Engineers for some years now, but until recently there was no formal qualification for Repair Specialists.

“When GQA advised us of this new NVQ I saw it as a natural addition to our commitment to having qualified people. We have more of our Repair Specialists working towards the qualification, however Carly’s commitment and enthusiasm has helped her become the first to complete the NVQ.”
