The Manheim Group has pledged to support Macmillan Cancer Support as its chosen charity for 2011 and fundraising kicked off with a special green themed Macmillan auction, inspired by Macmillan’s green branding, at Manheim Auctions, Birmingham.

More than £3,000 was raised on the day, with buyers and vendors Arbury, Allen Ford and WR Davies joining in the fundraising. Money was raised through a series of activities, including spot prizes given away in ‘green cars’, raffling £100 worth of shopping vouchers as the 100th car was sold and selling green cupcakes.

John Bailey, chief executive, Manheim UK and Europe, attended the auction. He said: “This special auction was a great success and marked a solid start to our 2011 fundraising. Last year we raised over £25,000 for Air Ambulances, our chosen charity in 2010.”

Jamie Strachan, a fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support commented: “We are delighted to be the chosen charity partner for the Manheim Group this year. We have been blown away by how the team has thrown themselves into the fundraising and the total from today is testament to that. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year holds!”
