Vauxhall dominated UK car sales last month with a total of 9,812 cars registered, nearly 2,300 more than that achieved by any other manufacturer.

Led by the Corsa, which recorded sales of 2,617, Vauxhall ended February with five models in the top ten. The Astra – which now includes the British-built Sports Tourer – was the second best-selling Vauxhall, followed by the Insignia, Zafira and Meriva.

In 2010, the Astra was the UK’s best-selling retail car, while both the Insignia and Zafira led their segments overall, with the Insignia proving the most popular fleet purchase in the mid-size class.

“Vauxhall is making headway like never before in the British car market,” said Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall’s managing director. “Last month proved that we are now capable of attracting more customers than any other manufacturer, and this is down to the strength of our products, their competitive pricing and a warranty on every new car which has the potential to last a lifetime. We’re also confident that our sponsorship of the Home Nations football will help us to engage with new customers, who may never have considered buying a Vauxhall before.”
