"We have the strongest product portfolio ever, including the award winning new Meriva, new Astra and Insignia, in addition to the best selling Ecoflex range, with a long list of new launches to look forward to, particularly our first electric car, Ampera."

He added that he was looking forward to the introuction of sub-100g/km versions of the Astra and sub-120g/km versions of the Insignia over the next few months.

Howkins, who was inducted into the Fleet News Hall of Fame in 2011, will move from his role as fleet sales director to become fleet sales customer relationship director.

Both Howkins and Taylor will report directly to Vauxhall managing director Duncan Aldred.

Howkins said: "I am delighted to be appointed to this new role. We pride ourselves in offering excellent customer service, which is the critical measure for all our fleet customers. I’m looking forward to continuing to raise the bar."
