Vauxhall was the top choice for car buyers in Northern Ireland in September, according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

The Luton-based manufacturer has sold over 2,500 cars so far this year and over 400 last month alone.  Vauxhall’s market share is up to 11.52 per cent from 8.83 per cent last year.

The Corsa supermini topped its segment last month, while the Zafira MPV was number one in its segment in September and year-to-date.  The Astra, produced at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant, is number one in its segment so far this year.

“We are delighted to be Northern Ireland’s biggest selling car manufacturer and very happy to have Corsa, Astra and Zafira all doing well in their respective segments,” said Gordon Hannen, Vauxhall’s regional operations manager for Northern Ireland.
