Subaru has announced the insurance groups for its new BRZ sports car range. The BRZ SE will have a group 30 insurance rating, with SE Lux models in group 31. These ratings are lower than those of a number of competitors in the sportscar class, including the Audi TT 2.0T FSI (group 34) and Volkswagen Scirocco R (group 34).

Contributing to the BRZ’s insurance costs are a strong crash safety performance – a result of the extensive use of high-tensile steel and rigid body structure – and a high level of standard safety and security equipment. This includes the latest incarnation of Subaru’s advanced Vehicle Dynamics Control for improved road holding, and front, side, curtain and knee airbags.
