Confectionary company Wrigley has recently taken delivery of 35 new Ford Mondeos as part of a fleet review that will see the company generate more than £1 million in company car savings under the guidance of GE Capital’s Fleet Services division.

A review by GE’s Key Solutions fleet consultancy team recommended a switch from a standard three to a four year cycle with the Mondeo as the new core vehicle for the company’s 144-person nationwide sales team.

The recommendations have now been fully implemented and with the delivery last month, the company’s Mondeo fleet has now increased to 160. To date, savings of around £300,000 have been generated with the full £1,000,000 expected over the four year cycle.

A 20% reduction in average fleet CO2 from 147g/km to a current 117g/km has also been achieved over the last 18 months.

The latest Mondeos are part of an expansion of the sales team currently being undertaken by Wrigley, which is based in Plymouth, that means the fleet has now grown to a total of 240 units overall.

Simon Knight, UK field sales director at Wrigley, said: "We have entered into a five year, sole supplier deal with GE and the results we have achieved so far in terms of reducing our fleet costs have been very impressive."

Gary Killeen, Fleet Services commercial leader for GE Capital UK, added: "The Wrigley experience shows the excellent outcomes that can be achieved with expert fleet consultancy and a committed approach to implementation of the resulting recommendations."
