MG has announced the specifications of its new B-segment hatchback, the MG3.

Powered by a 106bhp engine combined with a five speed manual gearbox, the MG3 will have a combined fuel consumption of 48.7mpg and emit 136g/km of CO2.

Prices start at £8,399 for the entry-level 3Time, which comes with a CD player with MP3 compatibility and aux-in facility.

The mid-range 3Form is available for £9,299 and includes air conditioning, DAB radio and Bluetooth. There is also a 3Form Sport available which adds a body kit and 16” alloys for £9,549.

Top of the range is the 3Style for £9,999, which also includes a body kit and 16” alloy wheels, as well as a rear boot spoiler. It also comes with cruise control, automatic lights and windscreen wipers and reverse parking sensors.

Sales & marketing director Guy Jones said: “The MG3 gives the market something really new; a stylish, highly practical, small car with many options for personalisation that is fun to drive, fun to buy and fun to own. With all models in the range priced below £10,000 and insurance expected to be just 4E, we can offer this type of product at a price position that no competitor can match."

The first MG3s arrive at dealerships next month.
