Demand for used cars continues to be very strong across the SMA Group, with the business continuing to exceed record sales volumes.

The latest record broken was at the businesses recently expanded Leeds centre, where sales exceeded the previous highest volume achieved in January 2011.

The record performance delivered by Leeds was at a ‘general sale’, with demand particularly strong for city cars, superminis and diesels. Above these, however, the key driver was condition.

SMA national operations director Eddie Thompson said: “We are delighted by the growth we are achieving.

“Speaking with many of our buyers face to face, it is clear that condition is a key driver in their buying activity as they seek to get stock to forecourt rapidly.

“We have been able to use this insight to help our vendors to prepare their stock and our team have been very busy ensuring that stock descriptions and imagery are extensive.

“Buyer demand is certainly up and this extra effort is helping us to help our buyers on-site and digitally to bid and buy with confidence.

“As with so many things, it is the small attention to detail areas that finesse the sale and help to make all the difference.”
