The Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) has appointed Sarah Dopson, head of group fleet at the AA, to its council.

The ICFM is looking to expand the strength of the council by blending the right balance of skills and experience.

Welcoming Dopson on board, the group’s chairman, Roddy Graham, said: “She is a well-respected, highly motivated, senior fleet management figure whose direct experience of managing large fleets on a day-to-day basis will add considerable value to the Institute’s development.”

Dopson has worked in the fleet industry for over 15 years. She started her professional career as fleet manager for Electricity Direct UK, responsible for a fleet size of 200 vehicles.

Following the acquisition of Electricity Direct by Centrica in 2001, she became a fleet administrator for Centrica.

After four years, and following the separation of Centrica and the AA, she joined the AA and headed up the fleet for the company cars and driving school divisions as a fleet co-ordinator looking after 2,500 vehicles.

Two years later, she was appointed vehicle supply manager at the AA and in 2007 was promoted to her current position with responsibility for over 8,500 vehicles.

In her current role, she is responsible for the management of the highly complex and diverse fleet across all the business areas, ensuring compliance and optimising the procurement and disposal of commercial and company car fleets.

Dopson has been an ICFM member since 2007.
