City Auction Group’s research has shown that cars bought via its buyer app were collectively worth more than £40m, with used car purchases surging to 4,000 units.

Since its launch four years ago the app has hit almost 18,000 downloads across the UK and Ireland. Currently 22% of all bids are received via the buyer app, up 10% year on year.

City Auction Group’s managing director Michael Tomalin: “Our dealer and car supermarket customers expect a slick buyer experience, wherever they are and whenever they need it. 

“We now live in a digital world that is moving to a one-click model, with the likes of Amazon offering a fast and convenient purchasing at the touch of a button. 

"More and more customers expect to be able to use an app to review vehicles, make a bid and purchase at auctions.”
