Group 1 Automotive UK will shortly complete the roll-out of TMC’s Fuel+ service across its 52 UK car dealerships.

Group 1 Automotive UK has previously relied on a standalone fuel card, while employees recorded journeys in paper log books or spread sheets.

Fuel+ software creates driver accounts and records mileage via an app or online. TMC audit each business journey and provide comprehensive reporting for management teams.

The Fuel+ card is accepted at over 98% of fuel stations. TMC can monitor where fuel is spent and encourage drivers to use low cost supermarkets, to minimise fuel costs.

Group1’s group HR director Paul Daynes said:  “A dealership fleet is a complex operation, with a wide variety of vehicles and journey types, including company cars, demonstrators, test drives, deliveries and transfers.

“About 20% of our operation have been using TMC’s service for a little over two years and when we were looking to pick best practice around the group, TMC best met our needs.

“Two features that stood out are the mobile app and the support TMC provides to our employees. The app is very attractive. It looks and feels modern and is right for our workforce.

"The support they provide through their help desk diverts a lot of questions that would otherwise go to our payroll department.

“The partnership and expertise they offer is fantastic, whether it be around definitions of business mileage, taxation issues or even tweaking their system for us to solve issues that are quite specific to a dealership business, such as how to handle reporting for test drives.”

TMC’s managing director Paul Hollick said: “Last year, we reduced our clients’ mileage claims by an average of 15.4%. That equates to an average saving of 18 pence per litre.

"We are seeing a lot of demand in the automotive retail and leasing sector. The flexibility of our system means we can accommodate the unique requirements of dealerships, OEMs, leasing and rental companies and I’m delighted that Group 1 Automotive are rolling-out our solution across all their UK dealerships.”
