Grandland X is leading Vauxhall’s fleet marketing message this year, fleet marketing and Motability manager Richard Roberts said.

He spoke to Fleet News at Company Car In Action 2018.

Which models have been the most popular with fleets on your stand this year and why?

Grandland X (pictured) and Insignia have been our most popular models with a lot of interest in petrol, which is a big change year-on-year.

Fleets want to know how petrol performs when they take the cars out, especially the 1.5 turbo because there is still a perception that it is a small engine.

What is your priority this year?

Our strategy this year is to lead with the Grandland X message – big SUV, low BIK.

Feedback has been great on its size and handling. We have also launched our ‘British brand since 1903’ messaging and our ‘True Brit’ campaign to remind everyone that we have been making cars here for more than 100 years.

What are your fleet sales expectations this year and longer term?

We can feel uncertainty in the market and the leasing companies are deciding what to quote on, with customers waiting to make a decision until they have the full picture both from us and our rivals, even when we have our figures out.

We are making our way through WLTP as we move from 6.1 to 6.2 and we will make changes to the P11D if required, depending on the BIK position.

Zafira Tourer is on run out which leaves a hole for a seven-seater.

We will have Combo Life coming as a five- and seven-seater, which is an exciting launch. First vehicles will come in July with main deliveries from October/November.
