ACFO's autumn seminar, focusing on legislation and taxation, has sold out.

Fleet decision-makers will be able to listen to and quiz leading officials from four areas of government that have a huge impact on company car and van operations.

The seminar is being held on Friday September 18 at the St George’s Park National Football Centre near Burton-Upon-Trent, which is the home of England’s 24 national football teams.

The capacity for the event, which is being hosted by England football team sponsors Vauxhall, is 90 fleet decision-makers and that figure has been reached with a waiting list now being compiled.

The seminar, entitled ‘A Day at the Taxes’, has speakers from HM Revenue & Customs, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, Health and Safety Executive and Highways England.

The speakers are:

·     Elizabeth Ward-Lewis, personal tax customer, product and process, HM Revenue and Customs, the UK’s tax and customs authority

·     Paul Jeffreys, corporate services, DVLA, an executive agency of the Department for Transport

·     Andrew Wetters, policy adviser, workplace transport, Health and Safety Executive,  an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions

·     Heather Lang, central on road area manager, Highways England, the new government company charged with driving forward the country’s motorways and major A roads, which includes modernisation and maintenance, as well as running the network, keeping traffic moving, clearing up incidents and managing Dart Charge at the Dartford Crossing.

At the seminar, HM Revenue and Customs is expected to showcase its online trial launched earlier this year, allowing company car drivers to make changes to car and fuel benefits that will affect their tax codes. That means Pay As You Earn employees who have company cars will be able to make changes online to their company cars and will no longer have to wait for HM Revenue and Customs to update their tax code for them.

Delegates will also have the opportunity during the lunch break and at the seminar’s conclusion to drive models from Vauxhall’s current range. They will include the ground-breaking Mokka compact SUV and upper medium sector Insignia, voted 'Best Upper Medium Fleet Car’ by trade publications Fleet News and Fleet World last year andBusinessCar in 2015. Test drive vehicles will be fitted with Vauxhall's new ‘whisper diesel’ engines, promising smooth power delivery with outstanding efficiency.

Vauxhall will also be exhibiting the new Astra, the first car in the manufacturer’s range to be launched with its new OnStar personal connectivity and service assistance technology including automatic crash response, stolen vehicle assistance and WiFi hotspot.

Additionally, during the seminar Wayne Millward, consultant at event sponsor’s Arval, will tackle the issue of cash or car.

John Pryor, chairman of the UK’s leading organisation for fleet operators, said: “We are delighted that the seminar is a sell-out. It shows the influence that ACFO has in terms of assembling a speaker line-up that is topical, relevant and attractive to members.

“We believe it is the first time that fleet decision-makers will be able to hear senior officials from the four major government bodies that impact on corporate transport operations in one location on a single day.

“It is an extremely rare opportunity for fleet decision-maker members to hear directly from senior civil servants on key issues and be able to raise topics of key concern to themselves.”

At the conclusion of the seminar, delegates will be able to take a tour of the St George’s Park National Football Centre.
