TMC is offering a free guide to employing real-world fuel consumption data to improve fleet budget forecasts and cost management.

Available as an e-booklet, the publication is titled Real World Fuel Data - Why it matters and how it will save your business money.

Industry-wide concern over a gap between official and actual MPG prompted fuel management and mileage capture specialist TMC to produce the guide.

The brief guide looks at the issue of mpg under-performance, which results in nearly 50% of business drivers using £1,000 more fuel each year than predicted by official data.

Paul Hollick, managing director of TMC, said: “When MPGs are all over the place, expected cost savings don’t materialise. Budgets become unpredictable. Low carbon vehicle policies don’t live up to expectations and reimbursing drivers becomes increasingly problematical.

”By using real-world MPG data, fleets can get back in control. They can introduce strategies to remedy poor performance and propagate best practice and they can reassess vehicle policies.”

The guide offers pointers to achieving changes in drivers’ behaviour and choices to improve fuel efficiency. Copies are available from www.tmcuk.co.uk/whitepapers/real-world-fuel-data.
