ICFM to deliver Fleet Live masterclass on WLTP challenges

Paul Hollick, ICFM

The Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) will deliver a masterclass at Fleet Live, providing insight into the actions fleet decision-makers should be taking amid WLTP uncertainty.

The 60-minute Masterclass, which is free to attend, will be held on October 10 from at the NEC, Birmingham during Fleet Live- a two-day event for the fleet industry.

The Masterclass, the latest in a series of similar workshops hosted by ICFM tackling key industry issues, will be led by the organisation’s chairman Paul Hollick.

Hollick said: “The arrival of WLTP is presenting huge challenges to fleet decision-makers. At the masterclass myself and industry experts will highlight the practical implications of WLTP on company car choice lists and taxation and provide advice on what actions should be taken.

“The challenges posed by the introduction of WLTP maybe unprecedented, but they also provide opportunities to fleet decision-makers to review existing company car choice lists and their whole modus operandi.

“To put operations on ‘hold’ and wait for further announcements by government and manufacturers is to effectively go backwards.

“It is imperative that, at the very least, fleet decision-makers keep company car drivers informed as to exactly what is happening with the introduction of WLTP, regularly review vehicle choice lists and keep firmly abreast of manufacturers’ data and new model introduction timetables.”

Hollick, managing director of TMC (The Miles Consultancy), in addition to being ICFM chairman, will also be advising fleets on the tools and techniques to reduce fuel spend at a seminar also being held at Fleet Live.

He calculates that overall savings of around 15% can typically be achieved through a combination of encouraging drivers to refuel at cheaper filling stations, more accurate reimbursement of business mileage and combatting fraud.

The 45-minute seminar will be held in the Fleet Operations Theatre at Fleet Live at the NEC Birmingham on October 10.
