Radius has acquired The Burley Group, adding the fleet, transportation and construction insurance company to its own.

The latter was established in the 1950s and has become a South Yorkshire independent insurance broker.

Radius provides more than 1.2 million fuel cards to fleet operators, which are then used to buy more than 3 billion litres of diesel a year, and its telematics solution is installed in over 150,000 vehicles around the world.

Earlier in 2019, Radius had a turnover of £2.5 billion in 2019.

Bill Holmes, chief executive of Radius Payment Solutions, said: “This significantly strengthens our insurance division with a company that has a long history of providing great service to its customers.

“We plan to both significantly expand the sales operation as well as create new products driven by data from our telematics platform."

Radius provides products and services to more than 300,000 customers, and employs over 1,400 people, operating in a 66 000 square-foot campus in Crewe.

Matthew Mawson, managing director, The Burley Group, added: “We sit perfectly with Radius’ fuel card and telematics businesses, providing a great opportunity to maximise growth through its divisions.

“We’re particularly excited about the prospect of connecting with its telematics products, and the possibilities this will bring.

" In addition to the investment that will be made allowing us to expand our footprint across the UK. It’s a great move and a really exciting time for Burley.”
