John Sibley has been hired to the permanent position of training solutions manager at DriveTech.

The role will see him handle off-road training, and its safety and driver risk management best practice will also be under Sibley’s leadership.

The off-road market is a core area for DriveTech and John’s experience and knowledge will help strengthen and grow this area.

He joins after spending 34 years in the Army in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

“I am delighted to take up this important role," he said. "I love this sector and working with our team of exceptional trainers.

“We have worked hard to build our sector leading course portfolio which is externally accredited by RoSPA, and I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of conveying both the theory and practical elements of all our professional off-road training.”

His expertise is in recovery and during his career he was the senior recovery advisor for the Tri-Services before being commissioned.

He spent most of his service in a variety of jobs including training design, planning and delivery.

He continued: “We have some great customers with significant 4x4 fleets and it is really satisfying to see a leap in knowledge and 4x4 prowess when we deliver.

“This can only make off road and on road driving safer and more effective too.”

Road safety and risk was recently discussed with Fleet News Awards winner Speedy Asset Services.

Every vehicle is procured with safety as its key criteria; every health and safety incident is reviewed and analysed to find the root cause; every driver is risk-assessed to see what they could do better or differently.
