Hyundai is the latest car maker to announce price cuts following the launch of the Government's new electric car grant.
A number of brands have introduced their own discount schemes as a result of technicalities with the official grant.
In order to qualify for the Government's scheme, car makers must have committed to a verified science-based target (SBT) and have embodied carbon scores below a certain threshold.
It is expected that the application process for the grant could take months, leaving buyers unwilling to commit to purchases in the interim.
Hyundai is offering up to £3,750 off its electric models, immediately, via a self-funded grant, but only for retail customers.
The scheme provides £3,750 off the Inster and £1,500 off all other Hyundai EVs, including the Kona Electric, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 9.
Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai and Genesis UK, said: "As the electric vehicle landscape continues to evolve, it is important that customers have complete clarity, choice and compelling value when making the switch to electric. Our diverse EV portfolio means we can offer something for every driving need, from the compact and efficient INSTER to our flagship IONIQ 9 seven seat SUV. By providing immediate financial support through our grant programme, we're ensuring that more customers can experience the significant long-term savings that come with electric driving."
