Greene King adds 60 Don-Bur Curtainsiders to its fleet
Greene King has ordered 60 new Don-Bur built curtainsiders in a variety of vehicle types as part of an expansion to its national drinks distribution fleet.
The vehicles in this order will operate from Greene King’s distribution hubs in Bury St Edmunds, Abingdon, and Nottinghamshire. They have been adapted to accommodate the specific configurations of the loading dock at the flagship Bury St Edmunds centre – itself a new addition to Greene King’s operation.
The vehicle builds are EN 12642-XL certified for load containment, equipped with Parksafe camera systems as standard, and feature distinct branding from Sapphire Graphics – carried out in-house – with designs that showcase recognisable Greene King brands.
A Greene King spokesperson said: “We’ve developed our highly bespoke brewery vehicle specification over many years in close partnership with Don-Bur, DAF, and our contract hire providers. Their shared experience and sector knowledge have been instrumental in delivering a fleet tailored to our unique operational needs.”
Tesco Insurance renews partnership with FMG
Tesco Insurance has chosen to extend its motor claims management partnership with incident management and roadside solution provider, FMG, to incorporate further Zigup businesses with Auxillis and FMG Repair Services.
The partnership began in 2022 and has seen FMG provide Tesco Insurance customers with an outsourced motor claims management solution. The renewal was decided following “excellent” net promoter scores (NPS), effective supply chain management, and positive customer results.
Andrew Chandler, managing director at FMG, said: “As a key supply chain partner, we’ve been proactive in supporting Tesco’s claims agenda, reflecting their own high standards throughout the partnership arrangement.
“A key focus throughout the partnership has been working together to identify how we can improve and enhance the customer experience, which has come full circle as seen in recent months’ customer satisfaction scores.”
With the renewal, the partnership expands to include full mobility solutions from Auxillis and repair fulfilment from FMG Repair Services, with access to FMG’s external repair network.
Tesco Insurance claims director, Dave Thompson, said: “We aim to ensure that all our supplier partners serve Tesco Insurance customers a little better every day. Our renewal with FMG and Auxillis to provide engineering, repair network and mobility services to our customers is based on a strong partnership approach with shared goals and objectives.”
Chandler added: “Extending our partnership means we can continue to enhance our role in reducing cost exposure whilst providing a first-class claims service to Tesco Insurance customers.”
M&Y Construction safeguards compliance and reduces VOR with FleetCheck
Building and maintenance business, M&Y Construction, has integrated FleetCheck’s fleet management software as part of a push to safeguard compliance and reduce vehicle off-road (VOR) times.
With 228 vehicles – cars and vans – in its fleet, M&Y Construction was originally using spreadsheets before transitioning to FleetCheck’s comprehensive reporting suite.
M&Y Construction’s fleet manager, Justin Toole, said: “We became concerned there was a growing risk of human error and potential oversights.
“We began to look at specialist fleet management solutions and, in terms of our needs, FleetCheck seemed ahead of the curve. Dealing with them has been very straightforward and the move to the new system was fast and seamless.”
As an ISO accredited organisation, being ready for audits was a frequent concern. FleetCheck’s software has simplified the review process for Toole and his team and made it easier to demonstrate compliance.
Toole highlighted the issues caused by having vehicles off the road. “Whenever a breakdown occurs, it’s a major issue for us because our engineers have appointments scheduled all day and we don’t want to let customers down,” he said.
To overcome such challenges, FleetCheck’s system has allowed M&Y Construction to embrace preventative maintenance.
“If a particular vehicle needs a service every two years or every 15,000 miles,” commented Toole. “FleetCheck reminds you when it's due.”
Peter Golding, CEO at FleetCheck, added: “Compliance and VOR are two areas where we have worked very hard to ensure our software meets and exceeds the needs of a wide variety of fleets, and we’re very pleased to see that it is proving so effective for M&Y.”

L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage expands fleet with new Isuzu trucks
Plant and transport provider, L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage has ordered eight new Isuzu N75.190(E) trucks to reduce customer delivery times through an expansion of its plant delivery fleet.
L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage has already been operating with Isuzu trucks for nearly a decade, and maintains a commercial fleet of 300 mixed vehicles, with depots across the UK.
Fleet director of L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage, Stephen Bremner, said: “We’ve always had a few Isuzu trucks in our fleet, but as the plant hire side of the business has continued to grow, we needed a reliable 7.5-tonner to support that growth. The N-Series’ manoeuvrability, payload capacity and customisable chassis makes it the ideal choice.”
The new vehicles were supplied by local dealer, Cordwallis Group, and feature bespoke bodywork from Solent Body Builders, ensuring a configuration that enables safe and efficient loading of plant machinery, and secure storage for smaller electrical tools.
Bremner added: “We received great support from Cordwallis and the bodybuilder to develop a system that takes full advantage of the narrow footprint and durability of the chassis, while prioritising driver safety and ease of use.”
