Isuzu is targeting the fleet industry as a key customer base for its new fully electric Isuzu D-Max electric.

The new model, described as "the first fully capable electric pick-up", will arrive in the UK in February 2026.

Isuzu expects the model will be of particular interest to utility and public sector fleets that under pressure to meet electrification targets but also require vehicles with towing and off-road capability.

Alan Able, managing director of Isuzu UK, said:  "We’re already working with fleet customers to ensure they can begin evaluating the D-Max EV well ahead of the right-hand drive version arriving in early 2026."

Isuzu D-Max EV

The D-Max EV is equipped with a dual-motor electric powertrain that provides full-time all-wheel-drive. It develops 190PS and has 325Nm of torque.

A 66.9kWh battery enables a driving range of around 150 miles and supports DC fast charging at 50kW - enough for a 10% - 80% charging in one hour.

The new model looks identical to the existing diesel D-Max and offers the same one-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity.

It is capable of water wading up to 600mm, has a ground clearance of 210mm and off-road approach and departure angles of 30.5° and 24.2°, respectively.

The New Isuzu D-Max EV will be available in two trim levels - equivalent to its existing DL40 and V-Cross models - in Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations.

Able added: "The Isuzu D-Max EV represents a new era for pick-up trucks, combining the legendary toughness of the D-Max with electric technology. We are proud to work with a manufacturer committed to creating a carbon-neutral future and announce this innovative vehicle to the UK market, providing our customers with an environmentally friendly option without compromising on performance or reliability."

There's only one electric pick-up truck currently on sale in the UK, the Maxus e-Terron 9. Ford is planning to launch plug-in hybrid version of the Ranger later this year.

The D-Max EV will be available for pre-sales in mid-2025, with the first models arriving in early 2026.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed.
