Europcar Mobility Group has added the Tesla Model 3 to its fleet to help businesses make the switch to electric vehicles (EVs).

The Tesla Model 3 will be added to Flex, the daily rental company’s long-term vehicle subscription, over the coming months, with the aim of giving businesses the chance for their employees to drive electric in real-world conditions before committing to lease or outright purchase.

Europcar says that more than 100 Tesla Model 3 EVs will join the rental fleet.

Ron Santiago, managing director of Europcar Mobility Group UK, says that before making fleet decisions – that will have big financial implications – it makes sense to ‘test’ every aspect of zero emissions motoring.

However, he said: “A short test-drive, even if it's for a week or more, doesn’t really deliver the insight businesses need to understand the true impact of zero emission motoring.

“Our long-term rental solutions tackle this challenge and the addition of the Tesla Model 3 to our fleet will give businesses more choice.”

Santiago believes that in the current climate, it makes sense for businesses to have a flexible mobility strategy that means they can keep employees on the road by mixing long-term lease and ownership with shorter term rental.

“Having access to the Tesla Model 3 allows businesses to get a feel for driving electric in real world situations and helping them to meet their sustainability goals,” he added.

“This addition is another important step in our ‘One Sustainable Fleet’ programme which aims to have 20% of our fleet low or zero emission by the end of 2024.”
