Europcar Mobility Group is helping fleets impacted by Bristol's clean air zone (CAZ) by offering a range of hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as four EV charging points at its Bristol rental station.

Bristol’s CAZ, which went live last month, requires drivers of all older, non-compliant, vehicles to pay a daily fee to enter the zone.

Cars, taxis and vans that don’t meet the required emissions standard will be charged £9 per day, while trucks, buses and coaches will pay £100.

Daily charges for Bristol's CAZ apply 24 hours a day (midnight to midnight), seven days a week, all year round, and must be paid within six days of travel.

Recognising the growing mobility needs of local businesses and leisure drivers in the area, Europcar Mobility Group UK has invested in the region by expanding the Bristol branch to be a dedicated car and van supersite.

Ron Santiago, managing director at Europcar Mobility Group UK, said: “Europcar is pleased to be able to provide a sustainable and flexible travel option with our electric rental cars and vans, which we can now charge for customers using our own charging facilities in Bristol.

“Drivers travelling through the city will be able to access compliant cars, which will offer peace of mind and ensure that they do not fall foul of any fees or penalty charges.”

He continued: “We are deeply committed to supporting our branches and helping them respond to their local demands.

“Developing the Bristol branch into a supersite has not only been an exciting move for us, but we’re proud to be able to help this branch support the region’s pledge to minimise pollution by offering sustainable and flexible mobility options.

“This is yet another step in our ‘One Sustainable Fleet’ programme’ which aims to have green vehicles account for 20% of our fleet by the end of 2024.”
