Delegates at this year’s Virtual Fleet and Mobility Live 2020 (vF&ML) event will be able to hear about the Government’s new multi-modal freight strategy, which is being developed to tackle freight issues across the sector.

Speaking at the event, on November 17 at 3:00PM, David Elvy, DfT head of future freight strategy, will outline the latest Government thinking on the long-running challenges of congestion, changing business models and the shift to zero emission transport..

He will discuss the Government’s Critical Freight Taskforce and how it supported maritime freight through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Elvy will also present the latest on the Future of Freight Strategy, outlining how the Government plans to address the future challenges and opportunities of freight by looking at the whole system, rather than focusing on a particular mode.

The key elements of the plan include; decarbonising road and rail freight by 2040, establishing a Freight Council and better land use planning that considers urban deliveries.

The foundations of the strategy have already been built and Elvy will discuss them at vF&ML, while giving practical examples of how the collaborative strategy will help operators.

Fleet & Mobility Live will be held online this year on November 17, 18 and 19.

As a result of the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and after consultation with the visitor advisory board, Fleet News has taken the decision to hold an online event in this year.

Among the exclusive features at the virtual event will be a special EV & Hybrid Showroom which will bring to life the latest electric models with interactive displays that will enable you to get up close to the UK’s best fleet suppliers.

Visitors and exhibitors will be able to communicate through live chat, participate in live Q&As, ‘visit’ branded booths, and find out about industry-leading technology solutions.
