The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been named best company car in the Parkers New Car Awards 2019.

Parkers.co.uk, a sister title to Fleet News, praised the premium car for its efficient engine line-up, relaxing long-distance cruising ability and low running costs.

Parkers editor Keith Adams said: ‘The C-Class is a brilliantly-evolved company car that offers engines and equipment for everyone on the company car ladder.

"It might have class-leading tech on offer, but it’s all simple to use, and that – combined with its superb levels of comfort – make it the perfect car to spend those long working days in.’

The winning car has been tested rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the best cars for company users on a combination of running costs, long-distance refinement, cost-per-month figures and fitness-for-purpose.

It beat the highly-recommended runners-up, the Audi A6 and Toyota Prius, both of which were praised for their low running costs, high-quality interiors and refinement.

Adams added: ‘In the second year of running the New Car Awards, we’re excited to have come up with such an interesting selection of winners.

"We’ve combined what we know about what our users are viewing on Parkers, with the combined team’s century of editorial expertise."
