Mercedes-Benz Vans has unveiled the Vision V concept as the first model to utilise its new VAN.EA architecture.
Due to launch in 2026, VAN.EA will underpin a new line-up of electric medium and large vans from Mercedes.
Mercedes will move away from the compact van segment, at the same time, with its Citan model set to end production in 2026.
The Vision V showcases a luxurious passenger carrying variant, hinting at what a future production variant could look like to replace the existing EQV.
Thomas Klein, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, said: “The Vision V is the beginning of a new era for Mercedes-Benz Vans. It demonstrates, in the truest sense of the word, how we bring luxury to a spacious cabin and define a new segment. With that, we set standards in design, comfort and an immersive user experience – while meeting the highest demands of our customers.”
The Vision V incorporates a large automatically opening “portal” door, along with illuminated, retractable running boards to ensure comfort and easy access to the rear lounge area. An intelligent, switchable glass wall separates the “Private Lounge” from the driver's area. If desired, the glass can be changed from transparent to opaque, either completely or in sections.
Seating is provided for two rear occupants in a luxurious setting, with a 65-inch cinema screen.
Up front, the Vision V's cockpit also offers an immersive digital experience. The Superscreen with three screens extends from pillar to pillar. The user interface and user experience are tailored to individual preferences. Real-time graphics provide all essential information – from the dynamic virtual instrument cluster to surround navigation, which displays the vehicle’s surroundings on the map in real time and in conjunction with the assistance systems.
When the first medium-size VAN.EA models arrive they'll be competing with Kia's new PV5 and the next-generation Renault Trafic.
