Orders are now being taken for Volvo’s new V60 Cross Country, which has an on-the-road price of £38,720.

The more rugged, all-wheel drive version of the mid-sized estate has increased ground clearance of 60mm, an off-road driving mode and additional styling elements including a lower grill, wheel arch extensions and sill mouldings.

Powered by a 190PS D4 diesel engine with eight-speed automatic, it offers a combined fuel economy of up to 55.4mpg and CO2 emissions from 135g/km.

The V60 Cross Country is fitted with Hill Descent Control and an Off Road Drive Mode setting.

Hill Descent Control automatically controls the car's speed down a steep slope, while the Off Road setting alters the operation of the constantly variable all-wheel-drive system and the responsiveness of the engine, gearbox and accelerator pedal to help when negotiating tricky terrain below 25mph.

Other standard equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, automatic LED headlights with Active High Beam, a powered tailgate and Hill Start Assist.

Safety equipment includes City Safety with automatic emergency braking, which is capable of detecting and helping avoid potential collisions with pedestrians, cyclists and large animals as well as other vehicles on the road ahead.

The V60 also feautres Oncoming Collision Mitigation, a safety technology that detects vehicles travelling towards you and applies the brakes automatically to limit the severity of any potential impact.

First customer deliveries will take place in Q1 2019.
