Mazda has updated the CX-5 SUV for 2022 with a refreshed look, revised pricing and new trim levels.

Redesigned bumpers and new headlights give the car a sharper look, while a new grille and tweaks to the rear end complete the visual overhaul.

Changes to the car’s body, suspension and seats are said to reduce road noise and enhance ride comfort.

Prices for the 2022 CX-5 start at £27,845 (on-the-road) and first deliveries of the new model are expected to commence in January.

The engine line-up consists of two petrol and two diesel options. At the entry-level, a 2.0-litre petrol unit with 165PS and front-wheel-drive is offered. A larger 2.5-litre petrol engine is available with 194PS and all-wheel-drive.

The most efficient CX-5 is powered by Mazda’s Skyactiv-D diesel engine. The 150PS front-wheel-drive unit emits from 147g/km of CO2 and can achieve 50mpg. A more powerful 184PS version is also available with all-wheel-drive. Manual and automatic transmissions are available across the range.

Joining the existing SE-L, Sport and GT Sport trim levels is a new Newground variant, which features a more rugged look with front and rear silver underguard trims matched to silver lower body side skirts, black door mirrors and 19-inch black diamond cut alloy wheels. Lime green accents in the grille are replicated inside with lime green air vent louver trims, while the Newground’s black half leatherette seats have matching green piping.

There is also a new Sport Black trim with gloss black detailing on the wheel arches, side moldings, door mirrors and grille surround. Red accents within the grille and 19-inch black alloy wheels complete the sporty look, while inside the black leather seats feature red stitching.

The 2022 CX-5 introduces Mazda Intelligent Drive select (Mi-Drive), which enables the driver to select the most appropriate drive mode with one touch of a switch.

Other enhancements include a wireless Qi phone charging tray and the standard fitment of adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.
