Lexus has taken the wraps of its new ES luxury saloon, which will go on sale in Europe early next year.

The range will include both full hybrid and battery electric powertrains, with different power options and the choice of front or all-wheel drive.

The ES 300h features a hybrid powertrain offering 247PS, while two battery electric versions will be available.

The ES 350e front-wheel drive model delivers 224PS and features a 77kWh battery. It is expected to accelerate form 0-62mpg in 8.2 seconds.

 The all-wheel drive ES 500e produces 343PS and a 75kWh battery, enabling 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds.

No efficiency or range figures have yet been released.

The model is the first Lexus to feature a fully-digital driver’s cockpit in which multimedia, instrument display and Lexus Link+ app functions are integrated.

Inside, the cockpit is based on Lexus’s Tazuna principle, with the upper section wide open to prioritise the driver’s view, while the driver display uses a 12.3-inch digital array.

Its 14-inch multimedia screen is the largest yet featured in a Lexus model. In the BEV models, the screen has a dedicated EV domain where the driver can view data such as vehicle range and live charging information, and adjust the settings for scheduled charging.

The front seats have been redesigned, while noise reduction was also a priority, with improved door sealing and the use of glass with hi-should insulation quality in the front doors.

The new ES benefits from further enhancement of the Lexus Safety System+ technologies, with features including pre-collision system, driver monitor system, bind spot monitor, lane departure alert and high-definition high beam headlight system

Details of UK model range specifications will be announced in due course.
