Peugeot has unveiled the E-5008, an electric seven-seat SUV that will replace its existing 5008 model.

Following the debut of the smaller E-3008, the new E-5008 makes use of the same fresh underpinnnings from parent company Stellantis.

It means the large SUV is capable of covering more than 400 miles on a single charge (WLTP) and promises improved ride and refinement.

The E-5008 will be available to order in the autumn with a choice of two trim levels and three electric powertrains.

Peugeot will also offer the 5008 as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid.

The car has grown in length, when compared to its predecessor, providing more space inside for passengers - especially for those in the rear rows.

It has a boot volume of 748 litres in a five-seat configuration and 259 litres in a seven-seat configuration. The third row can be folded into the floor when not required.

The E-5008's dashboard layout mirrors that of the E-3008, with a fresh take on the Peugeot i-cockpit. While the shrunken steering wheel remains, the instrument cluster is now integrated into the infotainment screen, with one large panoramic display sitting atop the dashboard.

Physical switchgear is kept to a minimum, with Peugeot's customisable i-toggle panel occupying the central part of the dashboard. Drivers can select which functions they'd like quick access too.

The E-5008's powertrain line-up starts with a Single Motor variant. It's powered by a 73kWh battery, giving a range of 311 miles and a 210PS output.

Long Range Single Motor has slightly more power, at 230PS. This version uses a 98kWh battery, enabling a range of up to 410 miles.

For those that want a bit more performance, the Dual Motor uses a pair of motors with an output of 310PS. These are combined with the smaller 73kWh battery, promising the same 311-mile range as the Single Motor.

Two types of onboard charger are available for AC charging, an 11kW three-phase charger comes as standard and a 22kW three-phase charger is available as an option. For DC rapid charging, the new E-5008’s CCS port accepts power up to 160kW. This allows the E-5008 to recoup 62 miles of range in just 10 minutes and recharge from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes.

The 5008 Hybrid will be the entry-level model, powered by a 136PS mild-hybrid petrol engine. There will also be a plug-in hybrid with 195PS and a zero-emission range of 49 miles.
