SEAT wins the Fleet News Best People Carrier award

Fleet News Awards 2012 - Manufacturer Awards: Best People Carrier

Sponsored by White Clarke Automotive Solutions

Winner: SEAT Alhambra

People carriers need to fulfil two main roles as company cars.

For some drivers they are chosen because their extra versatility allows them to be used an an all-purpose family vehicle outside of work, while in other cases their ability to transport more people and luggage than a typical car makes them a popular choice for taxi, private hire and chauffeur fleets.

While some people carriers based on lower-medium cars can carry seven people, full size people carriers are more effective all-rounders.

The SEAT Alhambra fulfils this role as well as any other while offering impressive fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.
High build quality, practical sliding rear passenger doors and excellent refinement are among some of its virtues, while the diesel engine offers a good balance of performance and fuel economy.

Selecting the DSG automatic with the diesel engine makes the Alhambra a more relaxing car to drive in urban environments, but it doesn’t come with a high CO2 and fuel consumption penalty as some automatic transmissions do.

Judges’ comments

This is a full-size people carrier that offers a good-size boot even with all seven seats in use. The seats are easy to fold flat, adding to the car’s versatility, while good performance, competitive costs and low CO2 emissions combine to make the perfect package.
