Europcar UK’s former head of fleet procurement, Bob Maclachlan, has been promoted to fleet director to ensure its fleet stays ‘relevant’.

Maclachlan (pictured) will be responsible for development and implementation of its fleet strategy, optimisation of vehicles and purchase and disposal.

He said: “I aim to ensure that Europcar continues to offer a wide choice of vehicles, with the flexibility travellers need."

“As well as investing in hybrid and electric vehicles, I will be focusing on the streamlining the end of rental process to provide a better customer experience.”

Having spent the past five years as head of fleet and procurement, the promotion is a “natural progression”.

He will lead a team in delivering a fleet that responds to the demands of both corporate and leisure customers.

Europcar UK Group’s managing director Gary Smith said: “Bob has extensive expertise of the fleet market, with five years at Europcar and a successful career at Vauxhall before that.

“This background makes him the ideal person to take the lead for the fleet team.

"This appointment forms a key part of Europcar UK’s growth and development strategy, as we continue to deliver the best mobility solutions, balancing cost, choice and convenience at every stage.”
