Transport Manager – FORS experienced

Region – Glasgow

Monday – Friday

c£40k + Benefits + Prospects + Annual Bonus

Our client is a multi-site distribution company . The product range is vast & supplied via multi-channel routes to both domestic & business2business sectors This rapid growth has led to a variety of new roles including the need for an energetic & proven FORS experienced Transport Manager.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is driven, focused, customer orientated as well as commercially & industry aware. A good geographical knowledge is essential along with previous experience of multi drop distribution. Experience in compliance and FORS is mandatory.

You must have excellent communication and negotiating skills.

Strong character and be able to work independently and as a key part of the existing transport team. Attention to detail, with strong planning and organisational skills is a must along with excellent time and work management

Role Summary:

Managing a fleet of 7 HGV's vehicles and 3 LCV vehicles.

Overseeing multi-drop & longer route planning

Communicate with a wide and diverse group of stakeholders essential to the smooth running of the business.

A hands-on approach is a must to work alongside drivers

Allocating work for the vehicles of varying size as well as a small fleet of company cars.

Briefing and de-briefing of drivers

Assisting with the raising purchase orders

Record keeping and occasional assistance in disciplinary procedures.

Promoting positive HSE culture

Managing investigations into any operational incidents

Seeking continuous improvements in all areas of performance including vehicle utilisation and running efficiencies, repair and maintenance spend, training and compliance.

Monitoring vehicle defect and driver infringements.

Keep a clean and well-maintained fleet and monitor driver standards.

Liaise with warehouse/production operations managers.

Oversee administrative responsibilities of the department, rotas, disciplinaries, holidays, absenteeism, recruitment etc

You will work closely with the Regional Manager to agree target customers and ensure service levels are being met by the internal team.
