PRICES for the new Nissan Primera will undercut mainstream fleet rivals when the cars go on sale on Wednesday (October 16). Prices for the 13-model line-up range from £13,055 to £17,665 on the road (including £465 delivery charge) and all have ABS brakes and driver's airbag. Nissan has also chosen to offer air conditioning in lieu of a sunroof for an extra £345 on three high volume sellers - the 1.6 GX, 2.0 SLX and 2.0 TD GX.

The company predicts that the 1.6 GX will be the top seller at £13,915 on the road with the model undercutting the Peugeot 406 1.8 LX by £500, the Vauxhall Vectra 1.6 LS by £385 and the Ford Mondeo 1.6 LX by £450. The Primera will still be the cheapest with air conditioning included - and both ABS and a driver's airbag are standard.
