Ford to shed jobs

FORD has revealed plans to shed 1,000 jobs from its 30,000 strong workforce by the end of the year.

The move followed the closing down of the nightshift at Halewood for a period of time (Fleet News September 27) and half the job losses will be at that plant, where the Escort is built. Of the rest, 200 jobs will go at Dagenham and 300 more at Southampton, Bridgend and Swansea.
